Hi! I really love your sleeping beauty/Yule Ball icon - could you please tell me where I might find it? I tried searching for it at The Leaky Cauldron but could'nt manage to locate it. Thanks!

Thanks! I thought it was just too cute and had to use it, cause her dress is really supposed to be blue. Kind of funny because in the book Pansy's dress is supposed to be petal pink and in the movie she's in blue. So they switched. Anyway...sorry...go to this link http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/#gallery:home and click on Icons/Avatars (under features). Omigosh...you are right, it isn't there anymore. You can take it from my profile and put the same credit I did. Enjoy!

Thansk so SO much! I just wanted to, I dunno, take it from source, lol. I tried looking but am really new to structure at the Leaky. I'll definitely take it from yours though!

And yeah, I was kinda miffed when the movie came out, cause you know, it's a small detail that means a lot to the fans.

Won't it be damn funny if the costume designer (or whoever did that) was a fandom-hater? Or, worse! not a HP fan! Ok, not so funny. *sheepish* Sad, though. Definitely sad.

new to the structure here too. ;)

I think they decided on pink for the movie because it is a running wardrobe theme with Hermione...she's always in pink of some sorts. I'm sure since it's not a life altering change, they saw it as no big deal.

makes you wonder if anyone who has to do with the movies knows anything about the fandom/fanfic?!

There's a pretty popular (and logical) theory about why Hermione got the pink dress in GoF. As the female lead, Hermione needed to be "visible" to the audience in the Yule Ball scenes. The Yule Ball set is almost completely silver and white. In theatre, you don't want to put your lead actress in a costume that is going to blend into the scenery. You want her in brighter, more vibrant colours. Pale blue makes sense on paper, but it simply wouldn't have worked onscreen. Plus, if you're going to go with what makes more sense, canon-wise, it's more important that the set decoration remain true to JKR's vision rather than one dress.

Personally, I think Emma looks utterly delightful in pink and I was quite pleased with it. Still, I can see why some people got their knickers in a twist.

I agree, she does need to be visable. You know I never thought of it, in terms of the silver and white set. And I totally agree the set being correct is more important. I have to say when I first saw the film I liked the set for the Yule Ball but wasn't in love with it. It wasn't what I saw in my head when I read the book, but after several *winks...okay 35 or so* watchings of the dvd, I really do find it stunning.

I like her in pink too. And it really emphasizes her femininity with the movie. If you notice, they have a color theme for most of the character's dress. That's good costuming!

Pink is one of my very favorite colors, so I don't mind Emma in pink at all. I think it looks gorgeous with her coloring. I do see how it irritates some people, who feel that the color is too associated with girlish weakness.

You make a great point with the characters being associated with certain colors (in the movies). Off the top of my head, I would say pink = Emma, blue and green = Dan and rust/red = Ron. Good choices for all of them!

I love pink too! They also tend to mix her pinks with greys....like Malfoy's eyes...hmmm maybe they are subconciously telling us something. *wink* yeah, totally pulled that out of my ass. LOL!

And let's not forget they always have Malfoy in black. Felts would have been so much more dreamy at the world cup if it wan't for that horrible wig. ick!

He looked so gorgeous in that suit and black turtleneck, I could forgive the bad wig. I hope he skips the wig next time.

But, yeah...scrumptious.

I love that icon. It's brilliant!
I hate that Emma is always in pink. She looks dreadful in it! Poor girl.

43. What's something you wish you could understand better:
my father

Amen! After nearly 41 years as his daughter, I feel like I'm finally beginning to understand him and he's a lot less complicated than I thought.

lol! I'm hoping that will be the case with my dad. Though, he's a pretty complicated man. He's not to outward with the emotions and that makes it hard. I'm trying to work through my own issues with him. Now that I have a daughter I'm trying to forgive and forget all the issues we've had. Thanks for empathizing...it makes me feel better to know I'm not the only one.
